What do you put between the tank and floor when putting your Willys back together?
I do not want to just put the tank right on the floor because of the two pieces of metal rubbing together.
Don't really want the rust to come back.
Thanks, Mark

The parts manual has 6 pieces of anti-squeak. 1”x 6-3/8”, 9”, 23-7/16”, and 18-11/16” (3 of these). In addition, the hold down strap had the same thing between it and the tank.

Well, eventually everything imaginable will end up there.

Big smile  The most common thing found under jeep gas tanks around here, besides pine needles, seems to be rifle cartridges, and the most common of them must be .30-30. Shocked  BW
It is NOT a Jeep Willys! It is a Willys jeep.

You really want nothing that will trap water under there, of course the pine needles, leaves etc will still get in and need periodic flushing.
I used bicycle inner tubes for the anti squeak.

Truck mud flap works exceptionally well.  Lasts 40+ year.  Conveyor belting also should work.

X2Thumbs Up

Strips of Rubber or original anti-squeak material installed from front to rear will allow the accumulated water to drain out through the tank connection holes in the floor or the drain hole on the side of the tub.

In lieu of the anti-squeak material (because it soaks up water) I use rubber strips.

I had some urethane body mount spacers for a CJ-5 that I sawed up to the length needed and placed strategically under the tank.  Perhaps not the most ideal solution but it's what I had around.
There's a reason it's called Ol' Unreliable
