    Posted: 17 Feb. 2008 at 2:51am
Sitting in a hotel tonight so the kids could go swimming...

Drove about 5 hours to meet a guy in Michigan to swap trailers.

We traded even up his Bantam T3-C Trailer for my M416 Trailer.

I'll get pictures up when I get home.

Need to nail done a year of manufacture sn:25038

Can anyone help?

Sounds like a nice trade Art.

This won't be much help but I did a quick search. Found some info that said there is no data base for crossreferenceng serial no to year. Found one post where and the owner of#14934 says the year is 1951. Also says that the best infor in this area is a yahoo goup discussion on bantam.

Art,

Like WFB said there is no real data base. Problem is owners don't really know when there trailer was manufactured and only have old registrations to go by, we know thats not reliable enough information.

I believe I can give you a rough idea of it's vintage from details I've noticed over the years. I'll need photos of the hitch casting, safety chains, tailgate chains, data plate, rims and a shot of the complete rear.

Good score! As you already know I've got a ton of stuff right now on eBay. This is the first Bantam T3-C I've seen being parted out so if you need anything you'd better grab it.

Thanks Allen and Matt...That's pretty much what I've found so far as well.

Matt - Got an eye on a couple things.

I do need good detailed pictures of the rear chains and hinges as this is where the majority of attention is needed.

It also has a different style of tail lamp that the typical Arrow lamp, but I think the lens is marked arrow.

The below pics are from the original owner and over on the ECJ5 web site, so since the links are not working I'll get my own pics up when I get home.

Here is the information I have.

1945  #s  1-2000
1946        2001-18,000
1947        18,001-25,000
1948        25,001-32000
1949        32,001- up

No trailers were mfg after 1949. They were just titled as they were sold. I used this info to title mine as a 1948.

Doug,

What is your source for the serial range?

I've had no luck finding data.

If this is correct data, I have a 48 Bantam T-3C (sn: 25038) which is a perfect match to my 48 CJ2A.

Next question is the Arrow lamp show above correct after a certain year?

I've never seen that serial range either, Very interesting!

Art, that lamp looks the same as the trailer. I wouldn't doubt it's originality.

How bout some more photos?

Be well,

Ok I got pictures taken today since it was sunny but cooold!

Would like some feedback...

When you get to the bottom look at the bracket under the right side tail gate area.

Is this a bubba mod?

Shackles?

What would the correct reflector be?

Art,

Nice trailer! I've got a pair of those reflectors I didn't put on eBay, got anything to trade?

I believe the trailer I've stripped is a very late production. The main casting is different, the draw bar rails are different, the rear chains are the same as yours but different from my other T3-C. Compare my eBay photos of the casting and rails to yours and all other T3-C photos you have and let me know what you think.

That bracket looks like it was put on to protect the rear from dragging?

Wrong shackles and maybe wrong springs, I thought they used the same as the 2A front leaf spring?

There used to be a serial number database on the web for these trailers. I have not been able to find it for a while. The information I have came from a gentleman named Lou Larson. I think he used to own NW willys.

Glad to see that both of you are happy with the trade.  I'm also glad to see that he realized what he had and didn't hack it up and found someone willing to trade for a M416, which is what he really wanted / needed anyway.
The Jeep Family:
2003 KJ - wife's daily driver
1997 XJ - my daily driver
1995 YJ - the trail rig - - -> FOR SALE
1966 M416 - the jeep trailer
1946(ish) CJ2A - my new project - - ->FOR SALE

If you look above them, you'll see an Atlas Tire Banner. My trailer has period correct looking Atlas tires but I don't know if they were original. Saw this for sale on eBay so I grabbed the image.

Is it possible you have missed one number in your serial series...they show numbers starting with 253934 to 277083 as being a 1943 model bantam

Here is another url for that entire site

I'll bet you find your info on this site...good luck!
