Monte,

Thanks - that is a very informative site. Unfortuneately the serial number data show is for the military trailers and not the civilian post war trailers.

This has been the dilema, no one has produced any production figures on the civilian trailers.

Art,
It's on a yahoo user group for the civvy Bantam, you may have to join to see it. You probably will want to join anyway, there is quite a bit of info on the BT3-C there, in the files and database section. There are a number of clues besides serial number to date your trailer, which you can find via this site. Unfortunately I think best you can hope for is an educated guess.  This isn't all bad: if you want yours to be a '48, it is a good guess if I remember the identifying features correctly from researching mine last year, and  I doubt anyone can prove you wrong.
BTW the floor on yours looks about like mine: thin and work-hardened. Jeepanels plus makes a replacement. I haven't purchased mine yet as shipping to AK is prohibitive, so it will have to wait until I next drive to the lower 48.

Ken,

Thanks for your input - I was the 10th guy to join way back in Oct 2000 when Mike Boyink Launched the Group.

I've known about the data base there, but it has many discrepancies in it. From other sources that have contacted me so far - 1948 is the consensus.

I've also since learned that many have been calling this the BT3-C in error.

I'll assume B comes from Bantam, but the actual model is T3-C for the civilian trailer or the T3 for the military trailer

  Ken,
It's good to see your smiling little face and hear from you. And when are you going to journey down here to the lower 48?   BW
It is NOT a Jeep Willys! It is a Willys jeep.

Happy Trails! Good-bye, Good Luck, and May the Good Lord Take a Likin' to You!

Can I please get anyone that has a Civilian Bantam T3-C Trailer to send me an email at: 48cj2a@sbcglobal.net

I'm going to work with Louie Larson's Yahoo Groups data base and get it up to date, and continue the quest for production figures to create an accurate as possible date of manufacture.

If you know any of the following please include it in the email.

Name
email address
Location (City, State)
Serial number
Year of Manufacture (guesses ok) your proof - title, registration, etc
If you could include a few pictures that would be a bonus for the database.

Lastly Chuck Lutz has requested the following:

To prove the theory that the first 2,000 Bantam T3-C's "WERE" the military left overs.....they need to have the following characteristics:
1) Riveted Spring Hangers (with the additional two holes)
2) ACM numbers on them
3) FOUR holes punched in the front for the military style data plate
4) BO Switch hole
5) Handbrake (or the holes for it)
