Sarah,
I just wanted to thank you for the terrific job on the tee shirts. It got kind of crazy at camp this morning and you were so calm and organized handing them out.
Again..job well done!

John, Carol, Rick, John, Rick, Rick, Dan, Vickie, Tom...well hell... thanks everybody who had anything to do with getting this shindig organized!  Too bad for sure we got rained out this year, but it was bound to happen some day.  I just got home - we had a slight rain-free window this afternoon so I got things in gear and bugged out.  It was indeed good to see all of you folks again if even for such a short time.

Again John...can't thank you enough for all of the hard work and planning that you do for this event.  We all had to call an audible this morning and I know it was without a doubt the right thing to do.

We will jeep again!

Well, I couldn't even be there and I am bummed for everyone!  At least there won't be a fire danger there this summer.  (He said, desperately grasping for something good about the situation...Smile)

It is pretty cool that a hurricane in the Pacific off of Mexico can have such a profound effect on the entire week in South Dakota.  Gotta say, I like the rain! - (just not THIS week)

It was still great to see many good friends again, even if it was short lived. THANK YOU JOHN AND CAROL, for all your hard work and planning!!! Wink

It was great to see everyone for a couple of hours 😜. Big thanks to John and Carol and the rest of the recon team for putting it all together. John I know it was a tough decision but it was the right one. There will be more opportunities to get together, but if we had trashed the trails there is a good chance they would shut them down.

Until we Jeep again

Ava and I are still here, I was planning on heading home yesterday, but I have really spent little time in the BH's other than Jeeping so we went all out tourist yesterday we hit the tourist traps in Hill city, rode the 1880 train, spent the night at the Holiday inn, went swimming Today we drove down to Custer, took in the wildlife loop and buffalo movie (very good, thanks for the tip Oilleaker), we seen many deer, a huge bull buffalo, turkeys, donkey's, Ava had much fun feeding them our hotdog buns morning was very nice and sunny, but all went to hell around 11 am and the rain returned. We were planning on going horseback riding but like the Jeep trails the horse trails are a muddy mess, Ava has her fingers crossed for the morning but I doubt it will happen... Many thanks to Flatfender for offering us his room at Mt. Meadows for this evening and tomorrow, a very nice place, it's warm and dry, but has been raining steady here since late afternoon, we grilled steaks for our evening meal, not sure if we will stay another evening at this point, we may head north in the morning and see some friends ... I muck agree the correct decision was made, its the weather and we cannot change that!, we are having a blast anyway .... Many thanks to the recon specialists who make this event a reality, without them we would be without any Flatfender adventure in the beautiful Black Hills

We waited until Tuesday morning to pack up and pull out.  We did get a few breaks in the rain, in fact at sunrise we had blue sky above us.  But the clouds quickly filled in and sent intermittant showers down on us.  Once we left the campsite we found rain throughout SD and WY all the way to Cheyenne.  CO was dry for us although we could see huge rain clouds over the plains.  Got home to sunshine and one tenth of an inch of water in our rain gauge.  Not nearly enough.

We thank John and Carol, and all the cast of characters who helped to organize this years event.  Even rained out it was a good time to visit with friends and make some new ones.  And it gave us all a good chance to check our gear against foul weather.  Oilly made the right call to suspend our adventure for another year.  Our camp road was getting badly rutted with the limited traffic the mass exit put on it.  It would have been much worse if we had stayed and continued to drive on it.  But it was a great place for our group to camp.  I'm looking forward to going back there next year to continue our adventure.

I read these adventures from the far east... in the land of "NO".  We live vicariously through these posts.

You’ve been busy siping, I see.  That’s a really good looking prototype.  Looks a lot like a dual-sport motorcycle tire.  Are those the 900x16?
