Depending on how much power and RPM you're going to have, you might need to prepare to remove the overdrive.  After my Kubota swap, the overdrive didn't last long, the planetary gears shredded themselves.  So I removed it, put the original gear back on, and then compensated with different axle ratios  to get my highway speed.

Cool project Clap

I do plan to run a T90c, over drive, and Teralow equipped Dana 18.

Which overdrive?  Mine was not a Warn, it was one of the newer Saturn overdrives.  Not sure if the Warn's are stronger, or not.  Or maybe I was just unlucky.  LOL

Mine is a Warn. Not sure on the strength differences, but I’ve read that most failures are due to lack of oil.

Overdrive failures
- Lack of oil
- not seating the square-ish c-clip
- not torqueing the nut correctly

Now that the Jeep is about buttoned up for the Fall Colors Tour in two weeks, I can shift my focus to getting the block ready to build up.

it took some time, but I managed to get the F134 shoe horned into the jeep without cutting the hood using a Holley 1904 carb, some Wagon linkage, and a heavily modified air horn.

Also finally got some new racks for my horde of jeep parts to get them a little more organized.

And since the carb'd engine is in the jeep, the engine stand is open for the prepped block to start building the EFI engine.

Yep!  If correctly installed and lubed, they will endure a lot-at least the Warn version.  Certainly more than a Kubota 2.2 can deliver.  I've had a Warn in my 3B since the early 70's.  Behind some relatively serious small block Chevys, all of which exceeded the 300 ft-lb OD rating by at least 100 ft-lbs.  No problems.  That said, you can break anything if you try hard enough.

You put that jeep through hell on Chinaman Gulch and did it with a smile. You two sure made the fall color tour enjoyable. Clap

Cam lift and profile are different on the intake with a f-head.
Careful... too much boost and the next part will be an engine adapter.

Finally got some time to work on building up the short block for this project.

Lew Ladwig and crew were kind enough to hang out at my shop for the day and help me get the cam and crank installed in my block.

We ran into a few issues. The first being the oil galley plugs. We had to drill one out to get the oil passages clean.

The other was the tappet bores. For some reason all the exhaust tappets were very tight in the bores, so they needed honed out prior to sliding in.

But by the end of the day, we were able to install the tappets, the cam, check the bearing clearance, set the end play of the crank, and get the crank torqued down.

Over the weekend, I’ll move on to fitting the rings and installing the pistons and rods.

Don't forget the flywheel bolts on the crank! Glad to see you're making progress. Looking forward to watching it come together.

Finally got back to working on this after a very busy winter and spring.

My parts supplier sent me one odd ball spring that I had to replace for the exhaust valves.

Engine is finally back together with the Clifford cam and ready to drop in.

After start up and some break in, the plugs look pretty good.

Took a short trip to Telluride to do Black Bear Pass. Engine ran fine so long as it was getting fuel. It did vapor lock a few times likely because of ethanol gas and no fuel return line, so I'll have to add a return line to it.

One of my machinists started roughing out the intake adapter for the TBI to bolt onto the F head cylinder head.

Should have plenty of offset and clearance to the valve cover.

I might have to trim some fat to get this to sit a little bit lower, so I need to do some more measuring of the current Holley 1904 carb setup to see how tall it is.

Just noticed this reading back through the thread. That is a rare part; probably would have sold it on eBay for a fortune!  If I recall correctly they made that just one year.
