I'd say having brakes on both axles would really be a pretty nice thing to have. At e trailer it might cost you $150-$200 to do it, but well worth it.

My new trailer has stake pockets, so I bought the stake pocket D-ring inserts.  But the rear pockets were not positioned well for tie downs and after looking close at the stake pockets, I didn't feel comfortable that they would be strong enough.  So I got the bolt-on D-rings, attached them with grade 8 carriage bolts and welded them to the frame.  I feel more confident with this.

Yeah, I'm thinking to go ahead and put brakes on the back axle, not a big expense, just the time to get it done. I've done business with e trailer, lately also with R&P Carriages in Seneca,IL, they've been some cheaper and usually have free shipping.

For what it's worth, I use sections of old fire hose on straps to stop abrasion and damage. The outside is nylon and pretty soft. The inside is rubber so it will stay put and not travel on the strap. The local volunteer fire department usually has old hoses they are taking out of service and it's been my luck that they just gave some to me. MG

No problem Roc, glad to help.  And at this price, it makes it very easy to decide.

FYI- might not be a bad idea to have a lightweight snatch block so you can double the pulling power of any winch, especially the 2500 lbs. posted above. Stuck brakes or flat tires are a PITA.

Save the coupon photo above to your phone and show it to the cashier.  They will either scan the bar code from your phone or punch in the number below it.  I do this all the time at HF. I haven't printed paper coupons in a long time.

Join the HF buyers club and you get coupons in the mail and online almost weekly.  Some of this stuff is junk, but some of it works pretty well.  I hate their drill bits, but like their ratchets and sockets.  The winches are holding up well after a few years of use.  I also really like their 20 dollar camp chairs.  Very comfortable, and the chair-side table is great for picnics.  HF also has hardware you could add to a trailer to make it better for securing a vehicle.  And when their 20,000 lb ratchet straps are on sale I usually get a couple more.  Some of my straps are getting a bit worn.  I've never had one of their ratchets fail me yet.

FYI, for those who are not aware of it.  There is a website that people post HF coupons too.  You can search or browse it, then download the coupons to your smart phone or computer.  I just download them to my phone,  then show it to the HF cashier at check out.  Works great.
