OK I have a pair of 2° Pinion adjustment wedges I want to install in my front suspension. This will help make up for the longer front shackles and improve my straight line stability. Yes I know it will also slightly increase my steering effort. BUT as I have a 6.25 turn Saginaw 525 Manual box(of which only 3.5 turns in the middle of it are used going stop to stop) I have plenty of mechanical advantage all ready. SO my question Should I add the wedge to the slot between the U Bolt plate and the bottom of the springs (the largest surface area) which will lower the front of the jeep about 1/8"? Or should I put it between the Spring Perch on the axle and the top of the spring. (less contact area if placed here) but easier to do? One of the side benefits of this is the clearance between my oversized one piece Tierod and the Nuts that lock its rotation with the Tierod ends will increase they are pretty close now. Not looking forward to this Job jacking up the frame and then jacking up the axle. PITA

Putting wedges at bottom of springs will do no good.
It is the angle of the spring perch that effect the castor.

LOL I was just coming here to delete this thread. I started to loosen up things to get ready to put the wedges in and realized they had to go between the perches and the top of the springs. or as you pointed out they wouldn't do anything. I'll leave this here in case it helps someone else. Thanks oldtime

I had thought about a reply but then you wouldn't have seen your error "Duh"! I'm too good at the forehead slap on myself but then again I've wanted to give several others one.

I have a Dana 30 that I'd like to put in the front of my 2a at some point. Are these shims something I need to start looking for?

OK, now that you have that sorted out, let's take care of the last detail:
It's CASTER, not Castor. You're dealing with an alinement angle here, not the nasty stuff your Mom used to feed you whenever you didn't feel good. BW

Oh by the way I pretty much have the Wedge in the right side and tight enough to see how its going to work out. The drive shaft angle change is nothing to worry about. And the Great part is I have a LOT of clearance for my HD Tie Rod and the locking nuts so that there is no chance of them hanging up on the spring in some weird off camber condition. Also I did a bunch of reading on Caster and lets say the longer shackles reduced my stock 3° to 2° by then adding a 2° wedge I have a little extra at 4° The Hot Rod guys tend to go to 7° as a matter of course (though a few guys in the know think this is excessive) With as much Hwy driving I intend to do a little help staying in a straight line might be nice. And an extra degree of Caster will do that.
