So the ole supervan is getting on with age and probably going to retire soon.  Its got a GM 3.4l alluminum v6.  I just started thinking about that little aluminum v6 in a flattie.  The 3.1/3.4/3.8's are 60° motors, whereas the 4.3 is a 90° V.  So im thinking maybe i can squeeze this v6 in and still retain the through-floor pedals since this motor should be narrower due to the tighter V configuration.  Im not interested in hanging the pedals from the dash.  Anyone seen this done or tried this swap?

Check with Novak and/or Advance Adapters.  Engine and transmission swaps is what they do.

My first Jeep had a 90* Buick V-6 under the hood and the through-floor pedals.  They'll fit.  It would be nice to have the extra room with the 60* V-6 though.

Bell housing configuration is different on the 3.1, 3.4s and later model 3.8s but a bell housing from an early S10 pickup with a T4 or T5 transmission would fit as I recall.

I figured you had already researched it. I had thought about this swap myself. Please post if you continue down this path I would be interested in the outcome.

I have a 1951 CJ3A with a V6 Chevy in it and standard pedals. How can I tell what size engine this Chevy is? I purchased this Jeep about 14 years ago.

Hey Teds Ride, here's some info on the Chevy V-6 engines:

You might be able to identify yours from there.
