At the Mason Dixon show this weekend I showed my new Civil Defense Air Raid Warden jeep impression. Quite a few of the older generation complimented on it and the memories it brought back. It was fun to do something a little different and educate people about the cold war fears that gripped our nation. Who remembers Duck and Cover drills, air raid siren tests and fallout shelter signs?

Very cool!
I remember the Duck and Cover drills in Elementary School in the 60s.
I have a helmet just like the one the Mannequin is wearing in your first photo.
By the way where did you get that full size CD Mannequin anyhow??LOL

The mannequin was free. The Civil Defense surplus store threw the mannequin in the trash. It was so ugly that it was driving away customersWink

Very cool! I'll post pictures of my version after the local car show this Saturday! How can I get a copy of your insignia poster?

That's just an image, I don't have a poster of it. I may print it out and put in a binder with other things that spectators can look at. But a poster would be cool.

Fun stuff!  (the whole themed jeep thing, not the hiding in a hole waiting on the flash thing Wink )

That's a nice and unusual theme for your Jeep.  Well done!

There are a couple other items I may get to round out the impression - CD fire extinguisher, Geiger counter, maybe a hand crank siren.  But trying to keep it simple with everything storing in the footlocker.

Ya gotta get the Geiger counter for a Civil Defense setup!  It just makes the whole display come together!  Thumbs Up

Yeah agreed.  It would be fun to rig up a secret button on it to make it start clicking on demand.  I could have some fun with thatWink

Love the CD logo with the pliers--that could be the universal logo for Willys jeep owners.

Thanks for sharing your pics and congrats on a neat jeep-show theme for your 2A.
