The cable on my emergency brake was missing and I want to install a new one. I understand that there is a mount on the firewall and one on the crossmember and maybe more. Does anyone have pictures showing these brackets and where they go. Thanks

A search for "brake cable clips" will give you a few references:

That's the early style (of course, there has to be an "early" and a "late"

Bruce is correct, I can not find the bulletin but I believe this one is good up until late 48...
I have 48 CJ2A #206759 and it uses the early style I've posted above.

Took some pics today as I salvaged a good cable from a 2A chassis.
here is the cable end and clevis by the brake. Also see there is a tab thing on the clevis pin for a return spring to help pull the brake lewver to "off" position. That tab is facing the wrong way, as the spring was missing. here is a clamp bolted to bell housing with 1/4-20 bolt, to keep the cable away from front driveshaft. here is a different view of firewall L shaped bracket, showing it is held with two bolts from under the dashboard. here is the clamp that bolts to the top of the trans crossmember. There is an access hole through the bottom of skid plate to get to the nut. here is a better pic of the clamp style that bolts to the crossmember. We might be putting the cable on tomorrow if you need more pics / |

I had a vender send me the later style and have to send me a replacement. The early style was up to Serial #183948. That us according to Crown but that does not match up with what Art has.

I bought that cable from the same supplier on ebay and worked great. Pushed oil through the cable and operation is silky smooth. Identical to the one I took off
