Does anyone have a nice original CJ2A that still has the original front floor?  I was wondering if there is a slight indent into the floor are where the cowl drain slot is?  Basically, the metal on the bottom of that slot would fit into that indent.  I guess to make it easier for the floor to drain?

If anyone has a floor with this, could you take some photos of it?  Thanks!

I looked previously at several of my jeeps and thought that indent was nonexistent. But I noticed that one of the parts suppliers included it in their replacement floor pans, so I took a closer look. You have to look real close because that flange around the slot nearly or completely covers it up, but it is there. I’ll try to get you a picture or two today.

I just texted Todd a photo of #10033..... Both sides do not show a recess in the floor pan from inside the tub, but underneath, is clearly a bump roughly 1/8" at each end, longer than the drain hole....

Hard to see in my CJ2A floor from topside because of the patch panels welded in, but looking underneath I can see it has a recess stamped into the original portion of the floors.
If you can't get there in a Jeep you don't need to be there!

Thanks guys!  I noticed this many years ago on a '46 CJ2A.  I have been taking the floors out of CJ2-16 to get them fixed. I noticed on one side where it wasn't totally rotted out the detail.  I took a picture of it, but it is hard to see in the photo.  To make things worse, the area crumbled to dust when drilling out the spot welds in the area.  Doh!

I did notice Classic Enterprises has them on their replacement floors:

I bought one to see how it looks.  If it isn't right, I might make some tooling to do this.  Wanted to get some photos so I can compare it.  Thanks!

Todd.

Its there so the floor level will match up with the drain. If it was not there you would end up with water that could not get up over the lip of the drain which overlaps at this point.

This indent, Plus the one forward from that on the passenger side, for the GPW/MB exhaust, usually indicate an original floor.

Its also like the two little brackets with holes off the outside step usually indicate an original 1/4 panel...
