33RD ONE OFF THE LINE IN NICE SHAPE AND ORIGINAL DOCUMENTATION.  DOESN'T GET MUCH BETTER THAN THAT!  How great that it was still out there and the right kind of person got it.  Enjoy!

Hey Mike,
Are there any little differences on the early VEC CJ2A seat frames? Mine has the original seat frames and also a spare set of early 1946 seat frames with it. Both Column shift 2As, however with some little variations.
Now I need to check the pivots to see if the material is bronze?

That's great Mike! Nice to still have the very early feature intact. Is there any data available as to when that was changed to cast iron?

Also, have you looked at the light switch yet to see if it looks like the one pictured on Page 53 of the 45 maintenance manual? I've never seen one on any of the early 2As so I question if that style was ever used on a 2A.

to many jeeps, parts, and accessories to list here, but apparently enough to keep me in trouble with my wife.

I have no data to suggest a part change range..... the light switch appears to be a replacement

What type(s) of variations are you seeing in the seats?.....

The rear strap iron feet are straight and not twisted where they meet seat frame tube.

As mentioned in the very first thread, I said I would share more info as it became available on #10033....

After much scrutiny from detailed photos, and the vehicle itself, the general consensus from myself, and several other Willys aficionados, is that #10033 is the Life magazine photo shoot jeep, shot by Myron Davis on Mackinaw Island Michigan.

This is also one of 30 known jeeps that was present at Cesor Farms on July 18, 1945 for the unveiling of the civilian jeep.

After the unveiling, it is said that a few of the jeeps remained at Cesor Farm for use on the farm, and possibly further testing, as the photo below shows, with a pre-production jeep in the background.

Further research is in the works via phone calls to family of the original purchaser to further elaborate on the jeep.

Stay tuned....

Low,

The Mackinac Island angle is new to me. Where did you find that info? Its especially interesting as cars were outlawed on the island in 1898.

Great picture... I note the black finish of the footman loops and reflector, also the zinc?? Finish of the tail gate chains and windshield thumb knobs.. no rear view mirror and short side view..early steering wheel and simple push/pull windshield latch..

After much thought and consideration, I am opting to rebuild a T-90 side shift, and re-install it along with a rebuilt steering column back into #10033, along with the original engine and transfercase. The T-90 is closely period correct, and will be just fine until I might ever locate a better dated case. The objective is to leave #33 in her "found and original" condition, and make her a reliable driver again.....

Mike, what were the details that suggested number 33 was the photo shoot Jeep? I have seen quite a few pictures from the shoot but I was never able to pin down a serial number. Were you able to find any enhanced pictures of the data tags?

At the current time, detailed photos have been compared to the jeep, mainly looking at spot welds, mig welds, and several incurred body defects that present themselves in the photos that are still present today...

Lowenuf,
Congrats on a really cool CJ-2A.  I sure wish something like this would find me.

In the original Myron Davis photo, there is what appears to be a significant crease in the rear cross-member shown below.  This may be an easy way to definitively confirm that this is the same 2A.  It would be unlikely that this crease would ever be fixed…based on its location and the thickness of the steel.  It would be a pain in the rump to try and pound this out, thus unlikely anyone would even try.

Tim, thank you for bringing yet another identifying feature. Here is a pic of #33 in the same location, and there clearly is an indent to touch... This makes #5...... I apologize that the image is sideways....
