OK, I'm going to make the short CJ2A mirror arm. I need to get a rough idea how many people would like one before I start ordering stock.

It will be made from .625 (5/8) seamless carbon steel with a wall thickness of .049 The lenght will be 9". The thickness of the ends will be .110 +/- .010 and the holes will be 0.4375 (7/16) and 0.3125 (5/16) and will be an exact copy of the originals. I need to make a better die to get the radius on the ends correct.  I'll post photos when they're finished. No commitment just a head count of interested people.

Each arm will be primed and ready for paint. $40 + shipping

Sorry for the high price but with R&D, materials and labor I need to get $40 each. Remember I'm just one guy and these will be made by hand and only a limited number will be made. I might make some of the longer reinforced 3A arms too.

I guess I'll take one. Are you making the bracket for the body to? The repros look to be excessively thin.

Don't prime mine please. I'll be powder-coating it.

No chrome and my wife won't let me powder coat anything in the oven! Either primed or bare.

Sean, I mic'd out the holes on mine and that's what they where. .375 and .250 seem very small but I'm open to all thoughts so please.

What Sean and I are talking about are the drilled ends, one for the base and one for the mirror. I'll go with what ever was stock which looks to be .375 and .250

Oh and no money now! wait till I'm ready to ship!!!

Matt:
Quote Sean, I mic'd out the holes on mine and that's what they where.
The big end bolt is 3/8" (.375), and the mirror stud is 1/4" (.250).

Quote .375 and .250 seem very small but I'm open to all thoughts so please.
My arm holes mic'd .390 & .255-.260, which is approx. 1/64 larger than bolt size. (25/64 = .391, 17/64 = .265).

I always figure too small is better than too big.  A little file work can always enlarge a hole, but only welding can fill one in. Wink

Sean

Gee Matt, with all the other stuff you have access to, don't you have access to drill bits in 1/64" increments?  Tongue

Sean you misunderstood me mine are  0.4375 (7/16) and 0.3125 (5/16) yours are .390 & .255-.260, I'll just go one oversize for 3/8 and 1/4 I don't want it to snug of a fit. I'll make sure they're right, I don't want to get to hung up on bolt holes that won't be seen. The radius where the arm is collapsed is turning out to be a little tricky.

With all who have thrown their name in (thanks by the way) the first run will be only be 14. And I'm going to make 4 of the longer 3A arms too.

And for you modified guys out their I can make some out of stainless if you want, same price! I already have that material in stock. Don't say I'm not equal opportunityWink
