Yes and yes. I bought it from Paul who tagged it as a take-off from a '47. It is mentioned on page 2 of this thread and, I think, in another discussion somewhere here where we were fussing over the correct length and diameter of the arm.

Can you post some straight on pics with a tape measure when you get home? One of the overall part, and one close up of each end so that I can measure on it. Is it 16ga?

It'll probably be Wednesday night before I get home with time to do it. The first post will include the bracket and mirror along with the arm and tape measure 'cause there's a bit of corrosion glueing it all together. That should still work for you if I get the thing oriented properly with respect to the tape measure.

Would it make sense that the longer arm came on a 3B or a CJ5 since the cowl is taller on those? (the 3Bs I've noticed had the longer 2 piece arm though)......just a thought.

Here's a photo:
The double thickness at the mirror end is 0.108 inches. I think that makes it 17 guage.

Sam, can you tell if the glass retainer band was chrome or painted?

The retainer ring is plated or made of something that has prevented rusting. It is dull though. There is not a speck of rust on it. The rest of the mirror head is rusted everywhere.

Matt, I'd like to buy one if they are the adjustable length type. David

David, are you aware that the original arms were fixed length? (jpet's arms are fixed length too.) If you want a stiff adjustable length arm, they are available from some of the usual commercial suppliers.

Matt moved overseas with his Family and has not logged in since 2018.
If you could find a suitable diameter tube you could crimp the two ends with a washer inserted for reinforcement in a vise and round the ends with a grinder to shape the ends.
