I could make the arm any length ,just start out with the correct lenght of tubing.  I was thinking of a thinwall tubing on the inside at the end attaching to the mount and drilling both and pressing both . I would do the longer arms if I can find the tubing.

I just wanted to show those that ordered one of jpet's arms what you are in for...... When I bought that Oklahoma jeep last month, it had a set of roof bows with it. Looking at the big round mirror bracket brazed to the windshield support rod, I kind of suspected what I was looking at but here is the proof that i needed.

I got Jeff's in the mail today and all I can say is it looks to be DEAD ON to me.

Another job well done Jeff............(I really don't even want you to see my work anymore)Wink

...................................GOOD JOB.....THANKS!!...............................

Ouch!  Sure hope you can save that bow.Confused

Thanks to you guys for posting the information on them things and thanks to the page for being the vehicle for the information.

It just goes to show you how nice this site is and what can be accomlished when the members colaborate on an idea.  Do you realize that I have never seen an original mirror arm.

Same with that tube spacer bow in the pic.  I've made over 40 of them and I have had NEVER seen a real one.

Roc,
I understand the mirror mounting somewhat, but what did the guy do for a mirror when the top was off? (not look I guess) LOL Pretty funny,  too bad original parts were involved.

Gale, from appearances he didn't ever take it off. The bows were put together then a light sheetmetal bikini top was sheetmetal screwed to the windshield frame and across the back of the front roof bow. Bunch of holes to fill but essentially they are o.k.

I've been travelling all week, but when I got home, Jeff's new mirror arm was waiting.  It is, as roc has said, perfect.  Thank you again, Jeff!  Clap

Jeff's my new favorite parts supplier!  Made me a set of square windshield bow retainer washers that were, of course, also perfect.  All done in the interest of getting more info to the site as well - what a deal for us all.  Sent you a PM and thanks in advance!

This one was said to be NOS.  Arm length was stated as 10 3/4".  No part number was given, but it came in the later Red & Blue box packaging, so is later than '49 (I don't know for sure when the packaging changed).  Diameter appears a bit larger than the short arm above.  Glass retainer is stainless, not black painted.

Does anyone out there have one of the longer arms? Is it 3/4" dia?
