Maybe a little alarming that his Profile says he hasn't been seen on The CJ2A Page for 8 years.... |

Oh man. I didn't realize that. I wonder if someone else has the capability of seizing control of the information as it stands today and then allowing for new info to be added.

If I were more computer savvy I'd take this over and get it going again. This guy has been out to lunch for 8, almost 9, years now. IMO, any statute of limitations has been passed and it's time to move on.
I hope "Sean" is well. Edited by wheelie - 09 Oct. 2021 at 5:17pm |

Since Sean hasn't been even on the board here since 2013, what about creating a Google sheet. something that everyone has access to so they can upload their info themselves without having to email the info to one person.
I understand that the info is vulnerable to people to delete it though so not sure what to do about that. I suppose we could do it like the old way was and have members email their info to one person who will enter it. Maybe have multiple people have access to it in case that member goes AWOL? Maybe there's someone on here that knows Google sheets better and they could tell us if we can do things like Sean did like organize it by numerical serial number order, keep the left two columns visible all the time, add hyperlinks to the example thumbnails, import all the existing data, etc... I'm not super familiar with Google sheets but I did make this up pretty quickly. my sample database: Let me know if you can't see mine. Edited by Scratch - 18 Jan. 2022 at 12:13am |

When I was deployed late 2019 thru 2020 I got a hold of Sean and he was looking to possibly host his database with Russ here on the 2A page. Not sure where that went but I'll send Russ a PM and then try again to get ahold of Sean.

current database shows: updated 2/25/2020
this is well after Sean's last post. who made the updates in 2020? is there a way to get the data and access to doing updates? hand it off to someone else that is proficient in fairly simple excel spreadsheet operation? and will keep order as this potentially could turn into a mess and get some serious fights going . Russ? any thoughts/suggestions? who has authority here? please pardon me if these questions have been asked and answered.

The database would have been updated by Sean. He used to host this on his own servers and lost his internet provider. I was having a dialog with him as late as Feb 17th 2020 but I was deployed.
I want to create a Bantam T3-C Database using his same template design but need to learn MySQL and php code to make this happen. Sean was giving me some guidance.
I pm'd Russ who is planning to call him and I sent him an email yesterday too. We'd like to host the 2A data here if we can, so please be patient as we work this in the mean time. |

sounds like it is not simple excel. and i did wonder due to all of the connecting links.
would putting out a call for donations provide a way for Sean to get on a suitable server? and thanks Art for getting back. hopefully we can be patient, but sometimes it is tough if there is no substantive info. what you provided helps.

Contact and a reply back from Sean has been made!
It is not so simple as an excel database but more with knowing SQL and PHP. I'm diving into and trying to figure it out. I also maintain the Willy Reunion webpage and hoping to use SQL and PHP to develop a form and tracking database for a streamlined process for our registration, which is my homework in learning the subject. First the CJ-2A page database and then a similar format for the Bantam T3-C Trailer database. Appreciate if you all would continue to be patient as we move forward to making this hopefully happen sometime soon.

The Database (in my opinion) is hugely important to preserve - and add to and update - into the future.

Art, Thanks. I am glad that this is moving forward. I am patient, as I know this is quite a bit of work to address this issue. I wish I had the skills to help out.

Thank you Art.
If you are patient enough to learn the schemes of the platforms, then we are certainly patient enough to wait. Thanks for all you do.
