Replacing the clutch on a '53 CJ3b and found that the bellhousing is set-up for left or right drive.
Haven't found a rubber grommet for the driver's side or a plug for the passenger side holes. Anyone know of a supplier? Thinking of using Kitty Hair body filler to seal the hole on the passenger side. For the driver's side looking for a moldable rubber to fabricate a boot. Appreciate suggestions, thoughts or information about a sourcer. Thanks, Bob |

I've got one just like it.....came with a DJ.
Don't know that there ever was a grommet.....maybe fab a small sheet metal cover (much like the one on top) with a couple of drilled holes /self tapping screws. For that matter just epoxy a light sheet metal cover over the hole. |

Originally had a sheet metal cover just big enough to cover the hole having radiused corners.
Single hole drilled in middle of plate with a wing shaped retainer on inside. Something like a 10-32 threaded round head screw to thread into the inside of the wing shaped sheet metal retainer.

It makes for a great mouse access door! Mine had a beautiful nest in it when I dragged home my '53 Willys pickup. Yuk.

You could purchase a rubber dock bumper or a rubber bench block and cut/carve it down to snap into the hole. They are fairly inexpensive.
