I need a good quality cowl to windshield seal and I do not remember where I purchased the one in the attached photos, about 24 months ago.  It has been kept in a climate controlled environment and today I retrieved for installation and found what you see in the photos.  IT HAS CRUMBLED LIKE A CRACKER. Please, can someone recommend a good supplier for this item?

Same problem for me.  I haven't removed it from the bag but it's hard as rock and crumbling.

I've seen advertisements from the military suppliers stating they've acquired these seals from a better supplier.  When I assemble the parts, I'll be looking into that as a source.

I originally put the seal generally available at the parts vendors but didn't like the fit, then I got one of the MV Spares seals, it fits much better than the first one and is still soft after 4 years. (I think I got it from Ron Fitzpatrick, seems to me he carried both the cheap one and the MV one at that time).

I bought mine from Willys-Overland with my replitub 11 years ago and just pulled it out of the bag a few weeks ago to install it and it's perfectly pliable. If they still use the same supplier then I'd use one of theirs.

I have the original from my '48 - still in good shape and way beyond any repop even after 64 years! Some minor weather checking as you would expect, but heavy duty and nice, original red paint can be removed with some scotch brite - $20 shipped.  I apologize for the incorrect category posting.  Chinese crap sucks!  PM me if interested.

I got out of the house without the number for Beechwood, so I called Karl @ Walcks and he told his were US made and he has sold for several years and has never received a compliant, not even a black mark on the cowl.  So, I will give it a try.

RUS C, do you remember from where it came, do you have the same label?  Please, PM me if you do, I do not want get into a bashing of vendors here but I would like to return.

Johnny,

It was Pioneer Garage in MA.  NOT Walck's nor Beachwood.

I've had one from Walcks for more than 5 years with no problems.

I have one from Walck's since about 2006 and it's slowly coming abart at the screw holes at each end. I used rubber adhesive (Shoe Goo) at the curve, each end. This may have taken the stress off of the ends. It leaves marks at each end of the cowl. I also just ordered a new gasket from MV.

At one time there were two versions offered at walcks.   a cheap one and an expensive one.   My expensive one seems to be in good shape.  They don't offer two anymore .
