So why are there no new 5.38 gear sets available for the Dana 25?  I see where I can get new 4.88 gears for the 25, but why not 5.38?  Sorry this was more of a vent than anything since I've got 2 complete axles that have some not-so-good-looking gears.  That being said I'm curious if anyone has any input on why there is one set but not the other.

Hello, do you have a kit that will change the ratio of my original '53 Willys Wagon Dana 25 front end to a 3.07 ratio? I need it to match the back of the donor vehicle.
That is gonna be tough. Your best bet is to get part number: SATURN that will give you 25% more top end.

Hey Terry,  thanks for the info.  I had seen those but was under the impression they were used and may not have them.  I just called and they do have them in stock and they are new.  So my fault there...  They are a bit on the steep side, so I'm still looking at options.  I guess I just find it strange that they are not readily available like the 4.88 set.

Most of the 4.88 ratio Dana 25 gears sets are WWII war surplus.
5.38 ratio would generally be civilian surplus.

I have two matching NOS pairs available.
One gear set is  NOS military surplus 4.88 for Dana 25.
The other is  NOS Dana civilian surplus 4.89 for a model 44.

The reason 4.88's are more available is that is what the military Jeeps had in them so many many more spares were made. The after market which is where you would have to go now does not see enough of a demand to produce new sets. Same deal as The Dana 41.

Thank you all for the responses.  It's nice knowing y'all are around and are more than willing to help the new guys like me.  I also called Herm the Overdrive Guy and he has several good sets as well.  So I should've done a bit more research before I sprang for the complete front axle that was supposed to be in good condition.  Thank you gents.
