I had been planning on the ol “change the oil, add plugs and file points and see if she runs” but had a change of heart when I was able to pick up a full gasket kit for not much more than the price of an oil pan gasket. So the head came off, I’m glad I did it, found some stuck valves and lots of carbon buildup but the head and cylinders look far better than expected. Got all my head studs out without breaking any and they’re soaking in mineral spirits and ATF so I can get the nuts off of them. Only broke one wanterneck bolt and managed to get it out with visegrips and a torch so things are looking pretty good for this engine.
