That’s a really cool bed extender, it looks like you have the pto controller and the rear box which are both worth good money. So there is at least good value in those, the half cab and the bed extender even though it isn’t Willys issue. So I’d say go for it but it sounds like you’ve already come to that conclusion.

Snow plows - No absolutes but many plow Jeep frames has been stressed - bent / broken maybe poorly repaired. Snowplowing can be rough on drive train, axles and steering components.

For crying out loud man, go fetch that thing. I'll tell ya what, if you don't want it, buy it anyway and sell it to me and help me get it shipped here. Seriously. I'll take it in a heartbeat. There is nothing I don't like about this jeep.

What does that thing have for leaf springs in the rear? Looks like it has one spring pack in the normal location and the a second pack that is attached to the draw bar.

I think this rig is well worth it and I would go for it for that price. I believe I have some correct doors for that top too! Whoever ends up with it can have them if they will pay the shipping! I'll trade the doors for the original reflector on the right rear! Wow, is that an original NACO peeking out from behind the bed extension???? |

The "bed extender" is the back half of a Ford Model A bed....not a factory piece.

Yeah, I'd snap that up in a New York minute. The next day the engine & trans would be out and for sale to pay for a L head and trans. Snowplow & lift, pto also, sold to pay for a hood and whatever else it would bank roll.

I'm definitely interested in the doors. I'm calling the owner tonight to see up a time to but it and trailer it over to my house. I've I get it home I'll clean it up a bit and take more pictures to get a better idea of what I'm working with.

Welcome to the page, Convoy! The transfer case shift levers are way back from where they should be, so the tub has been hacked up a fair amount. Seeing the hood and front fender extensions, I'd think Bubba didn't take too much care with the rearward move of the X-fer case.

Judging by the body condition (from what the photos show), the metal cab and aftermarket pickup bed and plow, I'd say $1K is a very fair price for this 2A. You can easily make more than your money back if you part it out. If you keep the jeep, get rid of that incongruent drivetrain and the enormous propane tank. Check out Millenium Falcon's (Seth's) impressive 2A diesel build on this site. He used a VW turbodiesel which are easy to find and not expensive. The VW engine and Kubotas are good diesel swaps, IF you don't get arrested by the Anti-Diesel Police in California.
Yes, snow plowing can take a toll on any vehicle frame and certainly the early Willys frames (only partially boxed) suffered. My '47 was bought new by my dad and he plowed snow with it every winter (multiple customers) for 20 years. No major damage, however. Good luck with this project! |

3-48s and others; What problems might arise when using a bed extender and say a bantom or other jeep style trailer when cornering? Thanks, Gary

I had a HP 289 in my '47 and it was a GREAT swap!. Did not have to hack up the firewall, fenders, or put a scoop on the hood. With my swap, I installed Sag steering and hang pedals as well. All went well. Ran a T-14 trans, D-18, OD, and stock diffs. Best Jeep I ever had. SO, you have the motor, if good, you have a good start.
It comes down to how bubba did the conversion(s). Would enjoy coming up your way to see the Jeep. Come by here as well. Jim

Once I get it home I'll message you. I think it would be great to have someone who knows more than me see it first hand.
