hi gang,
If i line the dot up on the camshaft gear with the dot on the crankshaft gear...does that mean piston number 1 should be at top dead center? Also- i noticed some slack in the timing chAin. Is there any adjustment that can be done?

Loose timing chain is adjusted by replacing the chain and the gears.
Walks has a kit. I don’t know if it’s any good or not.
