What kind of plug was used to connect the power cable to the jeep and where would it be mounted on the rear of the vehicle?  I saw Gale had his running through the military type cable. Thanks in advance.

I remember a conversation about this a while ago, IIRC there were some pics as well. The plug from the trailer was a 2 prong thing and I think the connection to the jeep was wired into the taillight and kinda just hung underneath. It only needed 2 wires because all it carried was stop and tail power with the ground going through the ball. I used the military plug because I needed 4 wires for turn signals (actually only needed 3, but since the military plug had 4 I used the extra for the ground). Not sure if there was an "official" place for the plug to attach since it was an "add on". I couldn't find the conversation in question with a search, but I haven't had much luck with the search function recently.

Gale,

You are correct. That is how mine is set up. Vintage Wiring of Maine has the pig tail, plugs and wiring harness for the trailer. The only difference is, the originals used a silver plug and Joe's are black.

Do you have any pictures of the setup you are using Bill?

Dave,

My trailer is in storage right now, but I will be pulling it out this weekend as a matter of fact. I'll try and remember to snap some pics. Hound me if I don't!

Dave I was not sure if you ever got pictures or not.  Here are pictures of the wiring harness I just got from VWOM. Just to explain Joe will work with you depending what you want or need hook up wise. I have a military jeep & want to hook up to it using the military vehicle plug. However I want to keep the trailer as stock & as close to original as possible so I can sell it if & when I get a Military trailer. so I had him use the 2 prong attachment hook up for a CJ. I am also using a model A tail light which has bullet connectors that I wanted to attach to. Here is what I got. If I can answer any other questions let me know good luck Mike

I have to second Mike's comment on VWOM.  Very helpful and accommodating!  My trailer came with a second hole cut for the right tail light.  Joe set me up with a harness for both lights in addition to having turn signals as well.  Answered multiple questions on both harnesses.

I was also concerned about the pigtail portion dangling off the vehicle.  Haven't come to a solid solution yet.

I think if you go to the Bantam trailer site you will see Gale's set up. As far as where it plugs into the vehicle would it not be in the same place as the old military location that our 2As now have that cover plate?

Yeah, you're right.  I left out a comment on Gale's plug set up.  I like it and it looks "period correct."  It looks very clean.  I waffled for a while about buying one myself, but ended up not as I wasn't ready to cut another hole in my tub.

I'm hoping to come up with a solution where it is out of the way but also accessable.  For example, there's a 2" hole in the rear crossmember (pto I think) that isn't being used.  Or possibly mounted between the crossmember and the draw bar.

Still thinking on it.

Hey that looks good. Thanks for the info. How are you gonna wire it in to the jeep's harness?

Never mind. Just went back and read your first post.
