What error did you get?
My off-hand guess is that the pop-up window with the emoticons may have already been open but behind a large window. Try it again in GD. If you create a garbage thread that does not belong there, I will delete it after you see the results. |

I just logged on as a normal member and made a post in General Discussion and added an emoticon to it. There was no problem so I deleted the post. I finally remembered that if you make the last post in a thread, you can delete it yourself as long as it remains the last post in the thread.

I still have the error inserting object when I try to quick reply to a thread but if I use the full editor I can go back and add them. Explorer is a bit clunky with this stuff sometimes.

Ah, well, I admit that I never use the Quick reply feature and I use Firefox as my browser because of all the issues over time with IE. Chrome and Firefox are simply more reliable browsers than IE. For some reason, Microsoft seems to feel free to deviate from established Web standards, It feels sort of arrogant to me, but that's just my opinion.

Well, I see that the problem is Internet Explorer. It happened just now with the full reply. Russ will have to advise the forum makers, but I would still advise people to switch Web browsers. IE is always coming up short. The version that I am using is IE 11 so it is not because of an out of date browser. Also, it appears to me that it happens only when you are using the expanded list of emoticons after clicking on more. There does not seem to be any problem with inserting any of the emoticons from the abbreviated list. If I try to insert the same emoticon from the expanded pop up list, I get the error. Edit: Mike texted me saying that he got the error using full reply without the expanded list. I helpfully told him to dump IE! Edited by samcj2a - 10 Mar. 2014 at 2:23pm |

back to it's issues...lol either from IE or Safari, from the quick reply, or the advanced reply, i try to post an emoticon, and get the "error in inserting object in current location" msg...... but, if i use the "test" section, it will allow me to post 1 emoticon, but not two.... |

I also was able to post some emoticons in the General Discussion forum using Firefox.
Russ did report the issue to WebWiz, the forum supplier. |
