Restoring a 1946 CJ-2A, (timing chain). Frame 25703, tub 15749, block 8-21 638632, head GPW 6050, no data plates. Problem is no engine serial number in either of the two usual places. The boss at the water pump is about 2 by 3/4 inches, which I read points to an older block, and its possible it got replaced without being numbered. My question: is there a 'correct' number to use now? Does it matter? I am not in the US, so not concerned about regulations - just interested in it from a restoration point of view. Any thoughts?
