I have a block that is all apart at my house that I would like to find out about when it is from. The serial number 3J155075. Just curious about when that block would have been in a Jeep.

Your serial #3J- 155075, is a late 50s, DJ-3A engine

My engine is #3J 157012 and the DJ guys have told me it is a 58 or early 59 engine The last version of the 134L which was made up until 1971 used in industrial applications.

Your number being a little lower would be 57-58 depending on DJ production numbers in 58.

I am new to the CJ world - trying to decipher what I have. I've looked through the data, and am wondering if my motor is original to the vehicle? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

1947 Jeep CJ2A serial number 106573 (the body and frame numbers match)

The engine has this stamp: 641087 - L -W4 and then AN1-CR-N2

The 641087 you list is the blocks casting number which is correct for your jeep. The engine serial number should be located between the front of the cylinder head and the rear of the water pump. In some cases the number did get stamped on an oval raised pad on the upper right front side of the block... behind the oil filter canister... if you have one.

BTW - this is kind of pirating someone else's thread. Would be best to post on your own thread.

to many jeeps, parts, and accessories to list here, but apparently enough to keep me in trouble with my wife.

641087 - L -W4 and then AN1-CR-N2 is a casting number on the block and is not the stamped serial number of the engine. The original serial number if it is still there would be on a boss just above the water pump. It might not be there if the engine had been overhauled and the block was "decked" to true up any imperfections on the top of the block during the overhaul.

By the way; welcome to the Forum. Ask questions. Read. Enjoy. Contribute. We like pictures of your jeep.

Joe, you beat me by about 30 seconds.

Good advice about starting your own thread though.
