Congrats on getting the engine running, great job, got to admit when I saw the open intake manifold and rodent evidence I thought it was maybe good for a block if you where lucky. Looks like a 47 I had where water damage ruined the rods. Joe w

I have brakes!! I reused brake shoes I had around and rebuilt the wheel cylinders/ master, I did have to make and run all new brake lines. Cleaned and repacked the wheel bearings, swapped a right axle shaft and hub because the keyway was damaged. I still have a clanking noise from the front axle that I cannot figure out, the zeppa joints looked fine so don't know what's with that. Still a lot to do but getting where it's usable around the farm. The pile of old brake parts left over...

I have to say I'm just as surprised,it fires up every time with just a few turns of the starter. There was a lot of swapping of parts off donor engines that were worse though, without having a piston and and a few valves on hand to put in it I don't know if I would have tried to fix it.

Decided to play around with the hyd winch I've been building and test it off the wood splitter. Initial testing is really good, about 36ft a min on the second turn of cable and I have room for at least two more. Of course it easily drags the jeep with all four wheels locked.

Nice job!  Is that a Ramsey hydraulic?  Looks like it'd hold a ton of cable.

I made an adapter to bolt the hydraulic motor to the winch, so yes it is😀. Since my plan includes adding hydraulics, I thought the hydraulic winch would be more useful around the farm, it should give me 100% duty cycle with a line speed almost as fast as pto drive but completely independent of the drivetrain. It’s only a guess, but I think this spool will hold almost 300 feet of 3/8 line.

That'll come in handy.  Can never have too much winch line.

Spent today collecting springs and hangers off a parts frame, they are heavily pitted but not hardly worn. I think they will be a big improvement over what’s on there now.

So much for the big improvement, these springs don’t have much more arch than what I took off, but at least these aren’t ready to break and I got the hangers fixed.

Also did a quick patch on the tailgate so it’s usable

I wasn’t going to buy new tires for this Jeep, but I’ve had trouble keeping the old dry rotten tires pumped up and the Deestone 502 was such a good deal I Decided to do it. Found 4 rims that should be good enough and brushed them with some galvanizing compound, hopefully it will keep the rust down for a long time.

Worked on fixing the battery tray and building a hold down. Also patched up the fender a little where the corner was broken and filled in some holes, it’s not pretty but functional.

I always love to see updates on this thread. You have done a wonderful job taking a jeep that was destined to be parts fodder and turned it into a useable fun jeep.

Thanks . Building it from parts has been a challenge but it’s fun doing one thats not original.
