Made a little progress... Worked on the oil system. Finished my oil filter relocation plate. Figured out my turbo oil feed hookup, oil pressure guage, and VW oil pressure sensor. I need to work on the oil filter and cooler mount.  Im still waiting on my hoses and a few more fittings. Also need to order a fuel filter.

Since I have no need for the willys timing mark cover now.... I turned it into a key chain. Willy on one side. VW on the other.

Falcon: So you'll need to find a place for both the oil cooler (shown in the pic) as well as the turbo intercooler. You thinking behind the grille and in front of the coolant radiator? Could be crowded in that space.

Up, oil cooler, intercooler,, and radiator will need to find a home, IC and Radiator up front. Im trying to get creative with the oil cooler....Somewhere that gets air but not inside the grill. The IC will pretty much take up the whole inside of the grill. Any ideas?

Ive been waiting on parts... Need my hose to hook up the oil cooler, Fuel filter setup.... Im picking up my radiator tomorrow. Then I can start figuring out how to route my coolant lines. Like everything else it will be a challenge. I had to make a few changes to my oil filter plate. I have so much time in that thing its not funny! haha!  I did work on the engine a little today. I was running when I pulled it out of the car, but since then I have robbed some parts off of it and its been sitting about a year and a half. I installed new glow plugs. cleaned the fuel injectors and installed new inj. seals. I also installed new fuel injector return lines. Nothing exciting but all this little stuff needs done and takes more time than i think it will. Hopefully I have more exciting progress soon. :)

Well after about 20 hours of googling and online research I decided on a radiator for my tdi swap. I went with a 1986 Ford bronco II (2.9L) it was the right size and had the in/out on the correct side for my application. I will have to lower my mount about 1” to clear the hood, but my mounts aren’t original anyway so it’s not a big deal. I got this at advanced auto. With the online promo they are running right now it cost me $72 and it was in stock.

Oil & Fuel system is almost wrapped up. (The fram filter is just for mock up, it was the only one I had on hand)  I still need to run my fuel return line and put some straps on the the hoses. Then its on to the coolant system and wiring.

Thanks for keeping us all posted on your remarkable progress.
Does the VW TDI have a block heater? And will you fit a small skid plate to the VW oil pan, per L134?

WV didnt add a block heater to these engines. I have the same engine in my station wagon and I added an aftermarket block heater. its a "zero start" 1500 watt circulating heater. It goes in line with the heater hose. It works well. I may add one.... these engines start well in cold weather without a heater, but it does make it nice. And yes, I will add some type of skid plate to the pan. The TDI has a known weak cast aluminum oil pan. Once stray rock and its certain death haha! My jetta has a 3/16 heavy duty skid plate.  I will have to figure something out for the jeep.

Der Willysdiesel-VW ist alive--und wunderbar!

Falcon, congrats on this 'heart transplant'! Love the turbo whine! I presume the sound in the video is directly from the turbo outlet--no exhaust system yet, correct?
