Hello everyone.  This is a 1947 CJ2A factory Fire Truck.  It is owned by the West Vancouver Fire Museum. It was purchased brand new in 1948.

In 1947 Willys-Overland, looking for new post war markets, designed a fire truck on the CJ2A platform.

Willys licensed the design to several producers; Howe Fire Apparatus of Anderson, Indiana, Boyer Fire Apparatus of Logansport, Indiana and for the Canadian Market, Sterling Machine & Manufacturing of Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada.

There are only two Canadian built units left in Canada.

Picture was taken in 1950.   The '48 CJ2a was converted by Howe Fire Equipment and served the Knoxville (IL) Fire Protection District for ~ 5 decades.

Great picture!
Our Jeep initially had the ladder rack as well.  It was removed in the early 60's as it was almost rolled a few times.  The 1948 refers to when it was acquired.  In this picture it was ready for a parade, hence the sign. It is a 1947 model.
