Uncle had this in a barn since 1996. Now it's mine!

I know next to nothing about them, so the adventure begins now.

I'm trying to download Walck's guide. Can't get it emailed to me?!

Bought my first 2a last week.

I've owned to cj7's, grand Cherokee, and a liberty. Nothing quite like the 2a. Had my eye on my uncle in laws for 10+ years and he finally parted with the pair.

Can't wait to get one home. Hopefully this weekend.

No clear plan yet. I'm thinking...check things over, try to start, then fluid and brake overhaul.

I got the one home that I want to get on the road.

Rear driver wheel is locked up solid. Made for a fun time getting it on the trailer yesterday for the ride home from NY.

Checked oil and coolant. Both look clean. Bought a 6volt battery.   I really just want to throw it in and try to turn her over. But before I do and ruin anything, is there much else to check?

LOL  Was your friend storing items down the carb? May want to take the carb off and look in the manifold for some mouse items.

I would also take off the access cover on top of the bell housing. I had one that was packed with mice items.

Make sure you can turn the engine over by hand (or wrench) before you crank on it to make sure there is nothing stuck in the engine.

There were lots of sunflower seeds in the carb.

I tried turning it over after clearing the carb with no luck. Looks like I'll be rebuilding my first carb soon.

Engine turned, rotor turned, not sure if it wasn't getting spark or fuel.

Took a little bit to figure out how to start a 2a. I'd never seen the foot peddle for a starter before. The starter didn't sound like it was turning was enough to start to me, but I've never been around a 2a until now.

I remember a barn find (dads) when I was a kid. Mice ran up the exhaust and stuffed things on top the piston that had an open valve. They really can get into tight spaces.

It was an F1 1948.

I forgot I started this thread last year.

Got it running this week.  Took care of fuel leak and found the gas tank has been patched a few times. ☹️

And...it leaks along the lower seam.

put it up on for jack stands and got the wheels to turn, but immediately stop.  Glad I found this thread, because I thought it was the front that was dragging.  Now I know it was the rear.

I know what I'll be doing this week.

I did pull the front apart.  Passenger side is a mess.  Do I need to replace the spindle?
