Alright time to catch up on posting.
Choke cable and lens are on the jeep.... see them there laying on the jeep??LOL

Also kept meaning to check the antifreeze....yikes what antifreeze!!!
It had straight water in it!!Shocked

With the temperature is well below freezing, I immediately went to work draining the water out.
I was pleasantly surprised that the block petcock was not plugged with rust and drained easily.
Of course the radiator petcock was plugged by cutter bees!!!
I ended up having to unscrew the whole thing because it was plugged so bad.

Maybe I should have backed in farther, my feet were in the snowConfused

I also removed the license plates.
Apparently bubba thought you know what even though there’s a great plate bracket on the bumper, I haven’t used my drill today!!
So let’s drill holes in the windshield frame!!!rrrrrrrrrrr

But wait bubba did do something of function that I hadn’t seen before. He bent the cowl body seam up to make a rain gutterClap
It made me think Willys should have done this to start with.

Owning a rain gutter business I’ve cleaned out thousands and thousands of feet of gutter, but this was my favorite gutter cleaning job!Wink
Something that drives me crazy is when somebody installs a hood latch backwards and every time you close the hood you have to reach down and move it out of the way!!
Com-on people there’s no excuse for this!!

Of course one bolt broke and I dropped the other one and couldn’t find it in the gravelAngry
But no worries Being super conscious about Recycling....Wink  that and I was to lazy to walk around the corner to my bolt bin.
I reused the bolts that I had just removed from the license plate Clap

Good looking Highlanders.  Dose the burro wake you up in the early AM?  There were a couple of burros in a pasture close to our house and they would serenade the sun rise.

Flatfender Saturday!!Big smile
A few days ago my Dad suggested we needed a name to call our selves as jeepers.
So Saturday morning we compare notes.....I didn’t having anything I really liked other than one silly one....
(The Busted Hub Jeep Club) LOL
Dad came up with using the Oregon Trail in our name.
So after discussing it we settled on....

 OREGON TRAIL FLATFENDERS
Anyway there it isSmile
We decided we wouldn’t call it a club or do anything official.
But anyone who wants to join us on runs just has to bring your flatfender... (please no square headlights or mall crawler flatfender wanna be Jeeps!! LOLWink)

Then Dad quickly says the Oregon Trail Flatfenders need to do our first run of 2021!
Let’s meet at the crossroads at 1pm.
I only had an hour to spare Saturday,so since Dad was taking
my nephews over to visit Grandma McKinney we decided to make that our jeep run of the day. Grandma lives a few miles down the road.
Par for the course... (that will be funny later) I put my boots on and walked out my back door 15 minutes to 1pm and wasn’t 100% sure what jeep to take?
I really wanted to take Miller’s jeep but decided leaving the farm wasn’t a good idea because It doesn’t have brakes!
Sure wish the head jeep mechanic would fix a few things around here!!Confused
Desert Dog would be the easiest... but with temps just above freezing leaving the farm with no windshield didn’t sound that fun.
Sooo.. 3B it is!
It’s got a top and a heater!! Win win
But... it hasn’t been started since the middle of last year....
(Ok fine that’s only 6 months) but I’m telling the story and it sounds better to say middle of last year!

By now I only have 12 minutes before I need to meet Dad.

Well it’s got oil and coolant.. but no battery!
So I walked over and stole the battery out of my Highboy Ford.

Wow apparently the jeep fleet detail guy doesn’t do his job either!
Looks like this Jeeps been parked inside a dustnato!

Actually this jeep was in a dustnato this summer!

Fired right up!

Pulled it out and checked the gas...yep there’s a little in there.

No time to add more gas.
Taking pictures is using up my minutes.
Oh but I did notice and unload the random stuff piled ontop the winchConfused

I roared down the driveway 2 minutes to 1pm.
I did pump the brakes a few times to make sure they worked before I reached the closed gate, the other day I had to turn out into the sagebrush because desert dog wouldn’t stop!Embarrassed
I’m really need to fire my mechanic Angry
When I got out to open the gate I realized the front tire was pretty much flat.... oh well.
It did pull to the left pretty bad on the pavement.
I got to the crossroads at 1:02Big smile

Oregon Trail Flatfenders

Over the hill to grandmas house we go.

I kept forgetting to clean the windshield so not the greatest pics.

Dad tried the fun route and ended up spinning out on the frozen hill and getting tangled in some barbwire hiding in the weeds Ouch

I will have to finish this post later Cry
Sorry stay tuned.

Ben,  what is the hose on the barbed fitting on the exhaust manifold for?

I like the title for your Jeep runs.  Tee shirts, sweat shirts and stickers for sale in the future?

The answer to all questions is???

I’ve wondered about the hose, the original owner had passed away before I got the jeep so I don’t know.
You think flatfender Saturday stuff would sell?
Or Oregon Trail Flatfenders?

Now the rest of the story......
Wow this post is longer than some Sunday morning sermons I’ve heard. LOL
Anyway we didn’t have time to chain up for the hill so we used the driveway...
Oh did I mention my Grandma lives at a golf course?
Our family turned my grandparents 80 acre farm into a golf course.

Didn’t get far and Dad had to stop and remove the tumble weeds rapped around his drivelines!

We decided to take a tour around the courseLOL

On the left we have the driving range.

Don’t worry we stayed on the cart paths!

Imagine that I found a golf ball!
My nephew put it on the gab handle,it rolls back and forth as I driveClap

I decided it’s my new tilt*o* meter if the ball falls out hold on!
Then we stopped at Grandmas and quickly we’re offered pie and hot cocoaTongue I love going to Grandmas!

Thanks for following the Oregon Trail Flatfenders on this Flatfender Saturday!!

I always love your updates, is the golf course open to the public or does your family have a private golf course? I’d probably have it full of old cars.

Best way to warm up on a cold morning? start pounding posts!LOL

I was well warmed up by noon and I had reach the top of the hill 300’ from my starting point and had 3 of the 5 wires stretched.

The fog kept creeping closer as I lunch.
No more sun shine for the afternoon Cry

Thanks to all Rugers help I finished LOL
