does anyone else experience a hot foot when driving for long periods? Ive insulated the inside firewall and even put a silicone pot holder under gas peddle to help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated..  thinking of a 1" lift to get more air space between rear of engine and firewall

How is your exhaust pipe routed?

I always looked at the heat coming up from the floor pan and fire wall as a blessing during the winter!

Pretty common on all older vehicles, install floor mats, or wear shoes

Could wrap the exhaust header pipe....(there will be differing views of this)

exhaust header pipe is already wrapped. Prior owner replaced front floor pan with flat sheet metal. There is no tranny hump. Thinking floor is too close to bell housing. No room to circulate air

Years ago I had a Willys Pickup with a 283 under the hood. Hadn’t had it very long when I took it on a 3 hour trip (one way). After getting back home my big toe on my right foot was numb for what seemed like weeks from the firewall heat. After that I glued 3/4” styrofoam on the floor pan. Probably wasn’t pretty but solved the problem.
