What does everybody use for the seals around the transmission cover, steering column, and master cylinder inspection plate? Will the MB floor seals from Walcks fit? Thanks.

I think many of those areas went without a seal.....but I always felt uncomfortable with metal on metal and I would cut my seals from rubber roofing sheet material. The fender to body connection I think used a cloth material that probably would NEVER hold water....not....so the rubber came in handy.

The steering and master cylinder cover should be the same, but the MB floor/tranny cover is very different from the CJ one so that won't work on the CJ. That said, I've never seen any seals or gaskets there but my Jeeps were "visited" by Bubba...

Your Parts Database has a listing for Seals for transmission, steering column, etc. (specific to Serial Number) but with no picture so I have no idea what it looks like. My Parts Manual had a listing for the transmission cover. It is a Sealer (supplied in strips - by the foot). After searching for a while, I found this:
It's like sticky putty. Using the plates as patterns it may not be too difficult to cut a set - and you know it would fit.

Rather then some sticky goo. You might just use neoprene foam most art stores like Michael's its also available from Amazon. Comes in .090" thick easily cut and compressible.

The kit I got from Walck's had rubber gaskets for each of those areas. If you have a column shift tub, you're likely on your own as the firewall plate and the trans cover are different.
I have a column shift tub. I used rubber gasket material from the hardware store. Sticky on one side - laid it on the cover, X-acto the holes out and done. Worked great.

I like 3M non hardening caulking strips made to go in- between sheet metal parts such fenders to grill etc. comes in a box of strips about 10"long. I buy at auto body paint stores. easy to work with
