I recently got some NOS footman loops and some NOS sheet metal acorn nuts for the tailgate on my '47. Does anyone know what the correct size flat head screws should be ( thread pitch, length etc.). Thanks, Matt

I got mine from RFJP. You get 30 screws, nuts, and washers for $6.
Where’d you get your NOS footman loops?

Matt,
I have a copy of a Parts Manual (PM) for my CJ3B. Many parts will cross over (I did find the footman loop screws in my PM) but sometimes, there are part changes through production. Are you familiar with the accessible Parts List here on the Forum? You can find it under CJ2A Parts Project section. There are probably multiple ways to access, but I click on "Introduction" and then "### PARTS LIST DATABASE ###" There you'll find a link to open the multiple parts lists. Your info was here (I selected the '47 edition): My PM shows all screws at 1/2" long. This is a good example of differences - but I don't know why this parts list shows different lengths. I have substituted available sizes vs. listed lengths when I had to. |

Found the footman loops on ebay, they arrived and appear to be " almost " exactly the same as the remaining original loops. They have a very slight difference in the bends that form the loop but are definitely not new production. Thank ya'll for pointing out and posting the parts list, that makes it easy.

Just a note, FYI - If you go shopping at the hardware store, you may find that the available screws have too large a head and are Phillips head. Phillips-head screws did not appear on jeeps until the CJ3B (possibly the 3A?). BW

Hah! Quite a few Phillips head screws appear on Grampa's Jeep, cuz that's what I mostly have in the Mason jars in the garage.
