Somehow this '55 CJ5 project followed me home. I know the fenders aren't flat, but I was totally seduced by the '71 drivetrain with it's offset full floating Dana 44 rear and 225 odd fire. This was a project started by an old guy who collected the parts 20 years ago, then after it sat for ten years he sold it to a young guy who did the bodywork after a fashion and put the axles under it, It also came with a "super 18"(parts in a box), a couple of radiators that look good, and a new 225 to T90 bell housing, (that I probably won't use as I am flush with SM465s these days). The original tub tag is still on it: 57548. #12191

For shame!
Actually it looks like a pretty good project. I don't blame you for letting it follow you home. Let us know how the project is going from time to time. |

Although that does look good as is, a 2A body will fit on that chassis. It has been done in the past. The frame is only 2" longer. I suspect that CJ5 body would sell for funds for the swap. |

He's right.... Here's my '65 CJ5 with a 2A body on it. Although I did have to cut the hood for the air cleaner But I did hear (too late) that you can use a Holley 1904 Carb to keep your hood "hole free" I don't know if I'd replace that tub though. It looks like it's in pretty good shape. Besides... isn't everybody all into diversity these days? My CJ5 body was missing most of the sheetmetal behind the front seats when I got it, but it ran great, and I had an extra 2A tub.

For now I think I'll keep the CJ5 tub. The frame and tub are n very good shape compared to my 2a. It also seems a little roomier.

Just means you now qualify for more than one Jeep Forum
Looks pretty dang good to me, and a 55 CJ5 is a pretty cool Jeep. I have a couple of flat fender Jeeps, and lately have gotten into the CJ5 stuff with two 67s.

If you can't get there in a Jeep you don't need to be there!
