OUCH! Sorry to see that. If you need a "fair" outer windshield frame to swap out I have a couple unbroken ones. Edited by 3-48s - 19 Nov. 2019 at 6:49pm |

Glad I'm not alone Jeff. Thanks for the offer Greg. It's not to difficult a repair so I'll just fix the one I have.

to many jeeps, parts, and accessories to list here, but apparently enough to keep me in trouble with my wife. |

I spent the morning skidding pine logs out of the woods with Sparky. I have a set of skidding tongs for my tractor that I can drop on the pintal hitch. I didn’t want to use the tractor because of an angled approach that had the possibility to roll it. The pine will feed my maple syrup boiler in a few months.

We got almost a foot of snow Monday night and Tuesday morning. It was a perfect opportunity to put Joe Friday's Jeep to work clearing the driveway and punching a path out of our subdivision to the county road. Our contracted snow plow outfit does not get to us until the second day after a snowfall, so we kinda hafta open the road up by ourselves. I take the driver's door off so I can use the low-mounted mirror to see behind me when I back up. It also helps to have the door off when I climb in and out with all my winter clothes on. Now if I could just move the seat back a few inches......

I picked up a, new to me, larger boiler for this season. Goal is 10 gallons of syrup this Spring. It is one of the “old” crafts I enjoy the work of.

How many gallons of sap has to be boiled to get 10 gallons of syrup?
My grandfather used to make maple syrup. It was a fascinating process to a young kid.

Between 45 and 60 gallons of sap per gallon of syrup depending on the type of trees you use. Sugar maples have a higher sugar content, red maples less so. This year I will end up using a mix of trees as I go up in capacity. I anticipate using 25-30 trees this year and boiling once or twice a week.

One mud pit, two stream crossings, and about two miles.
