My blade is exactly like the ones posted, 9 1/2" long. I have it cleaned out and need a rubber. I note that the bottom end is about 1/8" thick and probably around 9/16 to 5/8" wide. Did you have a place to buy just the rubber Sean?

Allen:
I suspect the "groove" was to deform the rod out-of round, & cause interference press fit to the knob round hole.
It is non-magnetic, so not steel. Might be pot-metal, like other small cheap pieces. Sean |

That's a good photo Frenchy posted. Wondered about that attatchment myself. If you notice on the two we posted you can see a dimple on the knob that must go into that groove. So wouldn't that be called "staked" in rather that press fit? Just curious about the terminology. Also do you think the knob is nickle or what?

So the knob was press-fit or crimped, and not intended to spin.
Thanks Frenchy!

Sean here are some photos of my handle minus the knob.
Looks like that small crease in the first photo must line up with a notch in the knob and with some kind of press fit that is how they must have did it. Hope this helps. |

Hi guys, CJ-2A hand wiper looks exactly as MB/GPW hand wipers. I replaced the complete blade for NOS that were advertised at the G503 forum.
The hard work is replace the rivet, but I guess can be done without any problem.
Cheers and good luck.

Much better idea! I'll try cutting a piece from an old inner tube and glue'er in. Thanks again.

I don't think you'd need to spread the blade metal. Just scrape/pick out the old rubber & glue a new piece in place. That's what I'm planning to try. Sean

Mule had an original hand wiper that Lefty inherited. The
I've looked and looked for a correct blade to no avail. If found how would you attatch it? Some have suggested a small screw. I've considered trying to spread the blade a bit, remove the old rubber and then replacing just that, re-crimping the blade. That way saving the original rivit attatchment.

Sean,
The end is pretty plain, I would say that it must be some kind of crimp or press fit. I can try and get a detail photo or two later on this weekend if you are interested. |

With the rust & paint & dirt on it, it appeared solid, but after scraping it off, I can see it's a separate piece. Don't know if it's threaded on, or crimped on and intended to spin. What's the end on yours like? Sean

The wiper blade with the hook in the middle is for the vacum wiper, not the manual one. The manual blade is the same as for the manual wiper for MB/GPW often listed on epay.

Interesting, I have a handle that matches the dimensions in your photo however it does not have the knob - it is a separate piece. I wonder if it is a repro? Thanks Jerry and Sean! |
