This is my 46 done up as a ww2 jeep. No alterations were made to the jeep besides adding a ww2 grille and correct OD paint. I have since added a wire cutter.

Did you have to modify the battery tray or the fender to fit the headlights.

The headlight buckets are 5 3/4" and from an old john deere. They are temporarily mounted on a piece of flat stock that is bolted to the original bucket hinge holes. They work for now.
It wasnt my intention to fully convert it over. If you look at mb's and gpws they are a completely different animal. I use it for ww2 living history events and have no problem using it as GI's would have. I work on modern military vehicles and they look nothing like the beautiful restorations out there. Currently working on a dummy M2 .50 cal MG for it

so no mods to fenders or battery tray, only used jd light buckets and made a bracket?
Been wondering what all i would need to do to adapt one to my 2a
I just think they look way better than stock 2a grille,  sorta looks like a bug on crack! Wacko

You're right 99% dont know the difference. It actually confuses people when i explain what it really is. Just think civvy hummer H1 painted camo and markings.
Just gotta find some 600 x 16 ndts to finish it off.

The headlight bracket is just a triangular piece of flat stock. Actually, its half of a hinge! Its not the best looking set up but it works. Ill post up a pic.

I particularly like the head light brackets. Are those gate hinges?

Yes it is a gate hinge. I originally planned on making hinged brackets similiar to the ww2 type. Just cut the hinge off and they fit perfect. The right bucket was bent so i just tweaked the bracket to fit.

That' awesome. I hope this doesn't get me thrown off the site but I always thought the WWII grill was the coolest of all. Ouch
