Lots of discussion of universal beige in the Luzon Red thread because it is the wheel color for Luzon Red.  I thought it needed its own thread.  The problem seems to me is to find an original sample.  But, since it was only a wheel color as far as I know, the odds of an unblemished 60+ year old rim are slim.

here is the only chip I have found:http://www.cj3a.info/cj3a/farmjeep/beige.jpg

talked to S/W Auto paint in cherry hill nj, gave them DQE-80364, it cross referenced to ‘LITE TAN’ – GENSIS heavy duty machinery paint. 1 stage paint,; requires activator/hardener

The paint matching computers I have read about require a larger sample, I think.  But, I thought I would take it over to the Lowes paint aisle and compare it to the available color cards.  Then, if I come close, everyone with a Lowes store would have access.

I've found in the past that if you can take a paint sample page to a good
old fashioned parts/paint store AND can work with an experienced paint
mixer he/she can do wonders. Yes, the old codes/numbers aren't valid
anymore, but they can come up with new ones. Worked wonders for us
with Autumn Yellow for instance....

Ok Wheels are at the blaster, I found a good spot of Universal beige on the back of my rim. The blasting guy said he could leave it, hopefully I can get a good match up.

I went to the SM store the other day and tried this, it looked way lighter then the sample on the back of my wheels.

I totally agree, it is light compared to some of the whel pics I've seen on the site...here is a link to my build thread that shows the color on the wheels..  http://www.thecj2apage.com/forums/new-project-willys_topic13073_page9.html

Just to add my findings for this color:

http://www.thecj2apage.com/forums/universal-beige_topic5651.html

It sure seems to be dead on compared to my paint chips. Powdered surfaces sure clean up nice......
