I have to do some maintenance on mine this week getting ready for the Fall Reunion. One of my wheels has perfect paint on the inside hub mating surface. I'll see if I can snap a hi-res photo but its definitely beige and from what I can make out it has a deep red or maroon pin stripe on the spare rim. I'll see if I can inconspicuously clean a spot with CLR.
I had to finally swap out my horn bracket as it was about to break off and it revealed beautiful shiny green Emerald paint under the bracket. Edited by 48cj2a - 03 Sep. 2017 at 5:38pm |

FWIW, my 2A was repainted in 1987 with Sherwin Williams Laquer paint, Terry and I have parked our Jeeps side by side several times and both agree'd his modern paint is a dead on match, or as close as needs be.

This is what I got on my 2a after a lot of search, mix and match for the emerald green. Hope the color ages well to appear what 48cj 2a has on his 2a on the years to come.

Beige with a maroon strip? I wonder if it's Luzon Red? That's interesting. |

When I did my restoration 20 years ago, I wanted to take everything back to original including paint colors. There was at least five different paint layers on my Jeep before restoration. The only thing I had to go on was the only place that had not ever been repainted - under the tool box lid. I was able to get it cleaned up enough to get a good scan at the auto paint shop. I have always heard this color was emerald green. My Jeep is titled 1949 although the serial number falls in the 1948 range. We lived in MN at the time, near Louis Larson and his Willys Minneapolis shop. Louis believed an emeral green tub came with yellow wheels. We spent several hours one afternoon searching and around his shop for five matching wheels. We did find five but only one original yellow rim that was used as a base color for repainting the remaining four rims. I have been to several shows with other Jeeps painted in emeral green and the colors match mine very well.

Bruce, that looks just like the unfaded colors I found on 218xxx. It had undercoating applied sometime early in its life that I was able to remove, in spots. Underneath was the green, just as fresh as yours looks. Nice.

Back in 1999 when I found the rims and the one rim in yellow, I found an almost perfect match in a rattle can on the NAPA shelf. Not thinking, I did not buy a few extra for future scratches, etc. Now the road side of the rims have faded a bit. The insides are the beautiful deep yellow like you have in your picture, Dave. I would like to repaint insides and outsides but several years ago, I had a pinstriper paint the accent ring. I don't want to lose that. Such a quandary!

That's Purdy!
Wish I could find an "Original" Emerald Green tailgate with the knockouts still in it to replace my Tan one with.

Thanks. The credit goes to HW Welch Company up in PA.
This one had a few of the knockouts still in it, but I’m planning to run a top anyway. Before... |
