I’m working my way towards painting the trailer and as I wire wheel and scrap old paint off it’s becoming obvious that the entire trailer was red. Is there any paint codes for red trailers and am I correct in assuming 100% of the trailer was red. The axle, hubs, springs, coupler, everything looks like the first coat of paint was red. I was thinking to paint the bottom and frame / tongue area black but if red was the OEM color I’ll go that way. Are there any pics of trailers people have painted one color? Seems like a completely red trailer would look odd? What’s everybody think? Thanks Ken |

I think the current consensus is that they are one color. If you look at the Bantam website, the period advertisement in the upper right hand side of the page bears this out. http://bantamt3c.com/index.htm
Also, if you look at the discussion section of this forum, there's a thread about paint that comes to the same conclusion. http://www.thecj2apage.com/forums/paint-codes-for-1946-bantam_topic16583_page2.html FWIW I agree that the monochrome looks kinda odd (but then again I painted mine all black which is nowhere near accurate) |

i have pics of my early 45 Bantam civvy that clearly shows green on the framework, when i disassembled it to locate the ACM....there is still green evident on the axle as well....
now mind you, this does not imply that Bantam painted everything throughout production of all trailers, but clearly gives this indication on an early one :)
