I am not sure on the shovel. Most Ive seen are Ames, True Temper, but thats not to say its not. Could you post a pic of the head and handle. Look for markings on the axe such as Kelly True Temper, Plumb, Collins. US or USA marked is good. 4# dayton axe, with a fawns foot handle. I am no expert, but would like to become one.  That razor back is really nice though...Thumbs Up

Atchison, Topeka, & Santa Fe RailwaY. That ax may be worth as much to the right rail buff as it is to a MVer. BW
It is NOT a Jeep Willys! It is a Willys jeep.

Very True Bruce. That axe is a correct style for your MB but not WW2. The shovel is looking real good, but have not pinned it down yet. I will post a 100% sure Kelly axe photo shortly, and a winner of a shovel I bought today for $5.00 at a flea market. (Have to download the photos) Very Nice!

Heres the picture of the axe head like yours but marked correct for ww2 Gpws MBs. This is the shovel I bought today for $5.00. I think its a gem. Axes I know a little more about than shovels. I think yours may be correct, still can't find the proper evidence. The axe I am almost certain is a replacement someone added at some point. Like I said, It is the correct style.  Ill keep looking though. This is my secondary passion...only to my 2a that I wan't to look like an MB. Buy the way, you have a very impressive collection of vehiclesThumbs Up. Paint the spade on the side of the Jeep as well for the Toccoa Boys!

Hey 1943GPW

You guys are killing me with all this stuff you keep buying..."a couple leaks and a tune up and it runs great now"....I gotta $3000 piece of lawn art that runs like a pile....I keep feeding it money and it keeps accepting it and I wouldnt trust it to run across the street for fear of something breaking on it. I keep seeing pictures and hearing stories of these great Willys Jeep finds that "run great" and all it needed was....

I guess some of us have it and some of us dont.

Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Well don't feel so bad. this jeep was NOT cheap LOL I had to put around $500 into it just to get it in the shape the seller told me it was, so I ended up having about $5500 into it Angry if I had to sell it I don't know if I could get that out of it or not. I think I paid a few thousand to much but oh well, live and learn I guess.

I do find allot of jeeps that just need a little fixing and run great like this one, But they are getting fewer and fewer, more junk is showing up now. Anyway I wish you well on your jeep. Maybe you need to buy one from me hahaha Big smile

Thanks for the picture, Love the movie!!

I am THINKING of repainting Easy OD green, BUT I want the dirty, off the battlefield look. What color you guys think would be better, 33070, 34087 or another color?? I have about 4 gallons of original 34087 paint but really don't want to mess with the led, but I am thinking if I dress up well and don't touch the paint with bare skin I might just use it, Any thoughts??

I think you should foget about the whole thing and sell me Easy. Like you said, you paid way too much for itLOL Just kidding. Looks like the shovel might just be the real deal. There where many suppliers for the shovels. It looks period correct. I am sorry I can,t authenticate it for you. That Jeep is still Awesome!

Thanks for the info, glad to know its the real deal Smile I plan on getting a handle for the ax so it looks better and also if the occasion arises I could use it.. You know of where to get an original looking one? Just a hardware store or some place special that charges lots and lots of money LOL

Anyway here is a picture of Easy on the side of a hill taking a breather after climbing it this last Sunday, She just wont stop, went through some ponds up and down hill's that I would not even slide down my a$$ on LOL I will have to get some video of how steep the hills are, its pretty amazing what this old girl can do.

Handle can be bought at the hardware store for about $13.00. True Value has them. The modern ones have a flat on the butt for pounding the head on. I cut that off, and sand them into the proper "fawns foot" Its a 36 inch handle. Ill try to put a pic on here for you!
Very Nice Jeep Indeed!

John Barton is the man as far as shovels and axes go. From what I understand, he has passed. I have learned alot from his sharings. This is a post he made on original handles, hope it helps!
