When I said paint shop, I should have said supplier. They seemed to have the most up to date equipment and put a sample into a spray can. Their scanner was hand held.

The underside of the toolbox lid is often a good place for a sample.

The tailgate darkened up considerably compared the the prior photo I pasted of it freshly painted in the sun.

Thanks for the explanation Micah. I am going to replace a damaged section of the body and hope to get a sample from it. I will also check the tool box lid paint condition.

Here's mine. It was as close as I could find to Luzon Red at the local paint shop. They actually called it Maroon, but it's close.

That looks about right. If you look at the paint codes I posted, one of them is Maroon. They may have come up with the exact same thing. Did they scan it?

They didn't have Luzon Red in 1946, but they apparently had Harvard Red, which mine must have been.  And then Sky Blue, and then Teal, and then Olive Drab.
