If you are referring to CE ribs atop the inner fenderwells.... The strengthening ribs on both of my CE inner wheelwells each have a long and a short rib.....

The thing incorrect about both of my inners, and my CE rear floor panel are that the very ends of the ribs do not carry the exact same profile as the originals, but in contrast, if you look at my tub pics showing the rear floor and toolbox in the same photo, you will notice the profile is very close in detail :)

so it all boils down to American made . and complete . So  Classic    Get to work. and sell comp' units . or we take up a collection and buy Mr green's  dies and make our own . I'm game for either

LaMont had some issues early on when we started our project, with some dimensions being incorrect...

Once we provided him with drawings showing actual numbers, he made adjustments to several 2A panels.....

My tub is proof, that the adjustments resolved the issues......

The only downfall to Class Ent, is that LaMont does not have the means to assemble his panels into complete units......and my opinion is mainly because he is so diversified with the brands he makes...and i also think he has trouble retaining reliant help.....

Most of the body work on my tub I hired out. Yes, it was expensive, but it was equivalent to buying a repro tub and the welding equipment required to repair the original and so on... I'm not including the final finishing and paint, just the body work on mine. I didn't know at first how badly damaged the body was.

If you feel the need to be so completely original, then be prepared to repair the original panels. If the panels are so badly damaged they must be replaced, then you have to be prepared to search and pay for original panels. At that point your Jeep will technically not be original anymore right?
It's not an easy decision in most cases.

Where do you draw the line concerning originality?

Personally I applaud Lowenuf's build....it is like a CJ-2A would look from the factory...maybe a LITTLE better Wink

Happy you got it corrected but I was not looking at your tub but my order experience.  Once again how original is original?   Did you look at who produced the welding rod? Same with the spot welder? Wonder if the sheet metal was produced in the states?
Enjoy your Jeep and drive it. Smile

I am making mine "period correct".............. I do not believe i have ever stated i was restoring mine to original condition....

if i wanted "original", i would not have sold #10910...........tranny and paint were the only 2 things ever changed on it..... thus making it "not original", but as close as i have ever owned...

this very topic of "original" has been hashed here for many years...... "search function" will provide those dialogues......

I doubt Stephen Greene has any dies....I beleive his work was done with hand tools, brakes, shears, and a bead roller.

Brian Metalshaper was selling out at one point, but wasn't selling his jeep patterns, hammerforms, or other tooling for the MB/2A stuff, and now is considering opening a museum, so he might still be producing some stuff. Other than that and some european small shops, Classic is it. Or....the mysterious 2A page reverse engineering experts might have a whack at it eventually too. Wink

I am curious... What would people think a fair price for a rebuilt tub like Low's would be, prepaint? Just how much would you spend to not deal with MD Juan and have mostly original repaired tubs? That has always been the limiting factor to a US manufacture of a jeep tub. I would imagine unless Mike and Jerry wanted to work for pennies, nobody could afford to purchase a tub like that. WIth complete, restored jeeps going for under $10,000.....you just can't justify an expensive but correct tub for most jeeps out there.

Enjoy your Jeep and drive it.

What makes you think that Low didn't use the tools from the Willys Factory to re-build his tub?? He's just being modest.  He studied all the tooling sheets.

That's why some of us can tell a 'real' 45 tub even from a crappy photo. Wink
