It was the same for me, original tub had been thrown out years before I got my Jeep, no others here to speak of so an MD Juan it was.....
They are nice and solid, overall well built, not perfect but if you know what you have to do then that's half the battle. Adrian

I know that life gets in the way of Jeeps but I was wondering if anyone has an update on their body kit installations?
I saw that Rommel Juan was recently visiting the boards, I hope he's got an ear out for some of the tweaks required on the kits!

My project turned into a full blown restore, The frame is straightened, the differentials are ready to go back on it but I still need to go through transmission and transfer case, it will be another month or so until I see how mine works out, I will post updates when I get to it though to show how it all fits, To me it was really the only choice, any tubs up here are either on a good jeep or as bad as mine was. |

I had to go back a page or two to see that you'd reported your frame being twisted. Glad to hear you have it squared up and all the other bits ready to put back on. Looking forward to hearing about the fit of the tub on there when the time comes!

Rommell is there any chance of you making a 1971 CJ5 body tub without the tailgate for a renegade replacement body.
Thanks Mike

Well this project has gotten drawn out some but I finally got the body set on the frame and mounted up the original front fenders and they fit excellent, the clutch hole was on the money, the brake hole needed about a 1\16" of grinding to clear, I am very happy with the fit, The steering column was spot on also, the only place I had to do some work was in the tunnel behind the shift plate, The gas tank did not fit correct there and I had to bend the tunnel down a little to get the tank to drop in place, 15 minutes on work, tops.
The only thing negative so far is that the tub does not have the gas tank mounts welded to the tub or the bracket for the parking brake return spring, I am very happy with the tub! Thanks to MDJuan for making them available and a reasonable price.

I just received a new body tub kit. Looks like it was manufactured in November 2012. No oval holes cut for brake and clutch pedal. If your not going to cut these holes, why even cut any holes.I see holes cut everywhere in the dash and firewall .

Pedal holes are easy, once your body is all shimmed up where you want it to be, fit the pedals arms and then draw through the hole where the pedal shaft itself clamps onto the underside of the floor panel.
Then time for a hole saw...
The you get them bang on, you can make a round hole oval with a nice file..... The draft stoppers are big enough to cover small misalignment. |

I don't think Rommel likes us anymore. It has been years since he has posted. Hopefully he is okay.
2 years...and a part number...and I can't find anyone offering the new and improved bolt on side step kit. Has anyone found them? Tim

Ron Fitzpatrick that runs the G503 jeep forum in Oregon has them (the steps).

Rommel seems to have gone dark on this thread. And seemed like it was good back and forth to improved his product.

Thanks Heimbig. I'll give Ron a call. Seems odd he wouldn't add them to his web-site. People here have been clamoring for them since Rommel announced their availability 2 years ago.

I sent Ron Fitzpatrick a PM. He said he is not offering them yet. He is still offering original take-offs as he comes across them.

I am considering it. I thought it would be easier for Rachel to get in and out. Although, like Lee(MN), I plan on removing them when "thrashing" through the Rockies.
