Got some good work done today.  Pulled the engine and transmission from the old jeep and opened up the shop space for the new frame.  I noticed another bubba mod when I pulled the engine.  At whatever point the rubber part of the motor mounts gave it up they just decided to weld the two metal pieces togetherClap
I think I have the frame about as straight as im going to be able go get it.  I may need to loosen the spring brackets and adjust them.  My x measurements are all really close.  Willys spec is 1/8" and my measurements are coming up to between 1/8" and 1/4".

Im back to a rolling chassis.  Just a couple of things and ill be ready to put one last coat of paint on everything.  Ive got to wire brush the axles.  Is the chassis supposed to be gloss black or satin black?

Did you have to weld a new bellcrank bracket on the cross member?  Did a nice job on that.

I had a buddy weld another bracket on. My mig welder wasn't quite big enough for that.

Nice job.  Frame is looking good.  I think that they were a satin not a gloss but I may be wrong.

Not much has changed on the 48.  Im just about done with Dads John Deere.  Ill be glad to finish that one for sure.  He said "ill pay for the parts and you restore it"  im not sure who got the better end of the deal!  Here are some pics. Its not Willys related but it is vintage iron so I thought some might enjoy!
Here is the first start video

I finally got my frame back from the body shop.  I had them put it on the frame jig to get a slight twist out of the frame that I couldnt do.  I ordered all new wheel bearings, seals, kingpin bearings, and brakes.
Took the rear apart this weekend.  I was amazed to find good drums and actual brake pads left on the shoes.  I was thinking about going with 11" brakes but since my drums are in such good shape im going to stay with the 9" to help save some money.  I was amazed at how eazy the hubs came off.  Only a slight tap on the hub puller on either one to get them to come off.

I popped the cover on the differential, everything looked real good.  I believe this is the original diff unit.  Found a date code stamped on the tube.
Got some paint on the rear end and my drive shafts
Is this the axle vent?  Sure doesnt seem like a very good design?

Finished the axles, brakes, and steering!  I need to put the 1" welds on the spring hangers and the bumper gussets and one final coat of paint of the frame.  I have enough parts ordered to get the engine and transmission back in and have a starting, running chassis.

I got my wheels done and the tires installed.  Last night a friend came over and we put the engine and transmission back in.  I realized that I forgot to mark my flywheel when I took it off, hopefully I got it on correctly so the timing marks work.  Id like to get the exhaust done and the radiator installed to I can do a test run.  Duck season starts in 2 1/2 weeks so im not sure ill get much else done untill after the end of January!
