Not much to see. It was painted this way when I bought it in 2004. Very monochromatic, but only the 2nd coat of paint it's ever seen. Might as well preserve it, because it's held up very well.

Once painted, my tub will be as close to 48 Potomac Grey as I can get.
Currently the chassis is semi-gloss black, the wheels I went with white with the pinstripe. Did I mention that, Im still working on my tub? Don

Mine 5) coats of Kirker Pacific Blue Ultra Glo Urethane single stage over White Epoxy sealer. Wet sanded between the 3rd and 4th coat. 1-3rd coats were put on with a cheapy Harbor Freight HVLP gun 4th and 5th coats were put on with a Old school detail gun, Then Wet sanded to 1500grit Imperial paper by 3M followed by Buffing at 800 rpm with Harbor Freight foam pads and Meguiars 205 and 105 compounds. Once the Jeep is on the road I will finish polishing with a little 205 by hand then finish up with a Ceramic Wax yet to be determined. Edited by Mark W. - 15 Apr. 2020 at 2:23am |

Here's our '47. I was aiming for Luzon Red. This a Lusid Tech Northstar HS HG Urethane 928 series. The closest base mix they had was called "Maroon". It's extremely durable. I painted it in 2014 and it still looks great. I just installed a new JPET top. The wheels are Rustoleum Navajo white. The tub and fenders are fiberglass.

To all,
I have been working on vehicles as a hobby and or therapy for awhile. I am a retired (Fireman/LEO). Jeeps have always been my favorite, even though when I brought the first one home (MB), I didn't know one from another. That was in 1973. Since then, I have had a wonderful time per se working on jeeps. My kind of therapy, other that fishing that is. Here are some before and after photos of the jeeps I have done since retirement. Lastly, something different I Have had no training in paint or body, just sort of fell into it out of necessity per se. I hope you enjoyed looking at the photos, Frank in SW Oregon Edited by Frank - 13 Apr. 2020 at 8:10pm |
