Not all used this bushing, I think it was a later development.

If it was used, there would be 2 screw holes, either side of the wiper arm shaft, for mounting it.

This is what was done on my latest one. They modified a 9" blade (Trico, I think, but can't find a name on it) by drillilng a hole across the snap-in attachment point, and ran a 4-40 machine screw through the arm (which straddled the blade's center piece) and blade, and put a nut on it. Looks like it worked well enough.

Incidentally, I was talking to Rob Ficken (WiperMan) this morning, ordering a rebuilt vacuum motor with arm and blade, and he mentioned that on the manual wipers, there is apparently supposed to be some sort of bushing through which the arm passes as it goes through the windshield frame. I don't see any signs of one in mine, so I'm curious. Has anybody else got one of these? It would make some sense, to prevent the sloppiness as your passenger works dilligently to clear his side!

at some point in time, the original rivet was opened, and the blade arm replaced on the wiper on the 2A, and as you can see in the 2nd photo, of a NOS wiper arm, that the arm has the peened rivet, and the wiper blade is longer than the replacement. also, the original blade is 2 rubber blades in the holder, either 2 seperate strips, or 1 that has been folded over, and inserted into the track..low

I haven't tried it yet but I'm going to use a small screw and nut, maybe some washers to take up the slop.
