In the British Army Air Museum in Middle Wallop England there is one of the few flying Jeeps ever made. It is a rotor craft and was successful as a flying machine (depending on your definition of successful LOL). I've seen and touched it in the museum its real!

There was a couple of us years ago that kept threatening to mock one of those together just for the wow factor (and a few giggles) at the Jeff City Reunion....never materialized of course.

Having flown military helicopters, I feel that this is one of the those times of, just because you can do it doesn't mean you should.

The last test flight occurred in September 1944, where the unit flew for 10 minutes at an altitude of 400 feet (121.9 m) and a speed of 65 mph (105 km/h), after being released by a Whitley bomber, and was described as "highly satisfactory".

Thanks but don't really see myself doing it at this stage of the game.....there was a time though....
On that related story ....just what do you reckon that guy had done that got him the honor of being stapped in that thing being towed by a bomber. Whatever it was I bet he never did it again. |
