It does. I don't understand how this works but this message just turned up as a message has been sent to me. This is almost a year ago.
But thank you I got it figured out by looking at a CJ2A that I rain into. |

Well here we go again.
I just bought a 1952 M38 from a friend for a price I could not refuse. When I built my jeep I had no intention of driving it as hard as I do. I figure I can build this one as a more “off-road” jeep. I’ll sell one of them eventually. So far the name is either “Rustier & Cockier” or “Mr. Happy” Edited by 92889 - 26 Feb. 2024 at 4:55pm |

The DJ frame rebuild is done and I dropped it at the sandblast shop today. Should be painting next week. Then reassembly.

Thanks for that. I do intend to reinforce the new frame. I appreciate the specific recommendation. 👍🏻

Before you install the 3A frame I would take the opportunity to box in the frame above all the spring mounts. After 5 or so years of hard wheeling in Thumper that's where I'm getting the most cracking on my 3A frame. I think boxing in about a 6" section right above the mount would alleviate this some of the flexing in the frame causing the cracks.

So it’s back to building the Jeep. I drove it so hard in Moab at Easter that I cracked the left rear frame horn. I made a temporary field repair. Unfortunately it cracked again, badly, forward of the repaired area.
I have a replacement 3A frame available. It needs some work but I don’t mind putting in the effort. I’ll have to swap engine front mount plates or modify the drivers frame engine mount, but worth the effort. Dismantling began today. You can find me on instagram at: the_rusty_coq |

The drivers seat has a bolt that goes through the wheel well and threads into the crossbar at the back of the seat.
Passenger seat does not attach to the wheel well. It just rests against it. No bolt. There is a small cleat on each wheel well that the seat back crossbar rests on. Hope that helps

Sunny,
I am looking for some simple information and I am coming up empty handed. I know this message I am looking at is about eight years old so you may never see this. But if you do I need a picture or a good description of how the outboard seat backs on the front seats attach/seat on the fender wells. It is a 1947 CJ2A Thank you, John |

Well the name of the jeep is the "Rusty Coq" so Foghorn seemed a reasonable representation for it.

I used perforated 1/4" plate under the steps so I can rinse out any muck that would get trapped in there to avoid corrosion.

I'm curious about the "speed holes" in the fender braces (steps) in the upper photo. Do you have an insert covering them in the lower photo?
